It's a long story really. Suffice to say in my world there has been a conflict harboring discontent and war.

Much of it began with a singular moment at the start of our new government. I wish to right that moment.
[It's too much simplification perhaps but she doesn't wish to go into the particulars. At least not through text because whew, that'd take a lot of texts.]
I asked for aid in settling the present ramifications of that moment.
[In a way. Her precise contract terms are to see the birth of a new possibility and the germination of that seed of hope placed within the Charter at the inception of the Universal Century. In the end though, this settling of terms - adding the last and final original clause back into the Charter - will begin that germination.
[Mineva hesitates for a minute or so, leading to a period of silence between messages. She's tentatively unsure for a brief moment, mulls on the ramifications of both showing versus not. And then eventually settles on the need to not be so withdrawn and wary of others, particularly one who showed her so much aid before.]

If you like.
[Moments later, Suyumkhe will find another attachment - a video. It's the same video she showed Banagher. Men in suits, men in military garb, all distinguished looking and sat about a table in discussion. Snippets make reference to an apparently newly discovered Charter of some sort, as well as to the implications of said Charter. The concerns of peaceful relations between the Federation itself and the Colonies as well as Zeon also rises before the video cuts off.]
[ Mineva is right to be wary. Here of all places. But while Shuyi understands little of what's happening, what she can see is a discussion by old men in power, charters and promises, considerations given to one thing and another. She only has herself to blame when the video makes her feel deeply angry, the kind that leaves her short of breath, teeth clenched until they ache. She hesitates against her next reply, before finding ways to defend her own words. ]

Do you believe this would lead to any resolution?
[ Words are cheap. Negotiations are a farce. Experience tells her that diplomacy comes to naught. ]
[ Politics are about people. Relationships. About navigating between greed and fear. There's nothing exact about it. Too many things crumble in the last moments. She's glad that Mineva doesn't have to see how she falters at that sharp observation. ]

And did they give you what you asked for?

To a degree. Change is a slow thing however. And the end result won't be delivered until my contract is complete.

What was it that you asked to be changed?

So you asked the CDC to help you right that moment in the past?

For worse or for better.]

And they kept their word?
[ That's what she needs to know the most, the hope that staining her hands with blood would result in something good. ]
FROM: suyumkhe@cdc.org
I hope your work brings your home lasting peace.

They have, at least for one step in that direction. Likewise I have been promised the end results at the cessation of my contract.
no subject
Did they give you assurances to that effect?
[ What she doesn't say: do you believe they would keep their word? ]
no subject
A video of negotiations, yes.
[Which perhaps could be faked. That much has occurred to her and leaves her somewhat wary.]
no subject
Would you let me see it?

Perhaps. And perhaps not. Politics aren't an exact science unfortunately.

This is what I am capable of obtaining from the CDC however. And it's a start.

I agree. It is a start.

Thank you, Mineva. This gives me hope.

Hope is all we can strive for in the end. In addition to what change we can bring ourselves, of course.
no subject
To change the world, one must start with oneself. Do you agree, Mineva?
no subject
I do.

Then I wish that for the both of us.
